Diagonal Blossom progress report

Kind of embarrassing to say that I haven't worked on this picture much lately. It was just one of those times where I let the thought of sitting there making those tiny cells sort of get to me, and I decided to find other things to occupy my time. I also went out of town for a few days. Excuses, excuses.

So, here's where it stands. I haven't counted the cells, but I know the thing is not yet halfway finished, although it's now starting to look substantial. There are some things in this that are making me happy, and that's a good sign. The picture is finally at a point where rhythms are making themselves known, and the echoes will start to emerge.

It almost feels systematic, the way it's going, but you can see from this picture that I've gotten away from the strictly rectangular configuration. It's now becoming more like previous blossoms in terms of how I let the perimeter develop, so I'm feeling I'm back on familiar territory at last. If nothing else, that makes me more comfortable with the process.
