Idling along, mixing dark background stuff with blossom stuff

I'm taking my time on that diagonal blossom picture. It's got over 1,000 cells now, but that only means it's about 30% complete. I'm in no hurry on it, as you can tell.

Meanwhile, I was in the mood to make another version of the same fish I painted a few months ago. I used the same frisket I had cut for the previous one, so the fish are the same size and basic shape, but set against different backgrounds and... well, they're different in various ways. This is the new one:
This is about 11 X 14 inches. It looks like it's showing up a little lighter here in the blog than the photo appears on my computer. Well, it's good enough to give you the general idea of what it's like.
I actually like this picture enough that I took another picture out of its frame and stuck this one in and then hung it on the wall next to the other fish, as you can see here:




My plan is to do another fish of a different shape against a background similar to the most recent one, but I'll also stick in a bunch of plantlike objects and maybe some rocklike things and various stuff, just to give it more depth and place the fish in a different context.
