Diagonal to date

It's a week since I started this picture. It's roughly 20% done. I probably won't keep up this pace, so if I had to predict the future I'd say it will be done around the end of February. I'll hold off posting any more updates until it's more than half done.

1-6-15

1-7-15

1-9-15

1-13-15: The painted area covers an area bout 6 X 6.5 inches. The cells are quite small, about 13 or 14 per square inch. In the last blossom picture I made, the cells averaged about 9 per square inch. Even I think it's kind of crazy making them as small as in this new picture. Really, taking a week to cover an area this small is somewhat ridiculous, but the cells are coming out so beautifully and the brush tip is holding up so well that it's almost enjoyable to work on it. I'm pretty certain I'm going to wear out at least two brushes doing this, because I need the tip of the brush to stay sharp to make these little cells.

[1-23-15 update: This thing now has about 850 cells. It's almost exactly 25% complete. Kind of scary, knowing that there will eventually be abut 3,400 cells. Good thing I'm in no hurry on this one, or I'd be starting to stress right about now. If I've made predictions about when I think it will be done (I think I said the end of February was a target date) they will likely be way off.]
