Actually, I'm pretty happy with the progress on this. Despite taking a vacation a week or so after starting this picture I'm gaining on it. This might be the first blossom picture I've ever done where I don't look for excuses to avoid working on it.
Appearances are a bit deceiving, I think. I'm showing you the entire sheet of Bristol this thing is on so you can get an idea of how much is left to do. I'll take it out to about a half inch from each edge. Regardless how it first looks, there's much more white space than painted space on this sheet. I don't want to calculate how many cells it will end up with, but my instinct tells me it might be the most I've ever put in a picture. The sheet it's on is cut to 16 X 20 inches.
I'm shooting for finishing this by the end of the first week of January. The hardest part will be the bottom of the picture, but how that will look will probably depend on how the top looks. My knees are starting to get really sore from sitting cross-legged on the floor while working on this picture. I'll just keep telling myself it's worth it. I really do enjoy looking at it in changing light, so maybe it is worth it, after all.
